Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib warned, in a phone call with his Japanese counterpart Yoko Kamikawa, of the regional repercussions in the Middle East of the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza, and the possibility of the security situation getting out of control if negotiations to stop the war on the Strip fail.

During the call, Bou Habib expressed his country’s aspiration to avoid escalation in the region, stressing the need to push the Israeli occupation to a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the aggression on southern Lebanon.

He indicated that the security situation is rapidly deteriorating in the Middle East, which requires the international community to take urgent action to stop its further collapse and push the situation into a comprehensive war.

For her part, Kamikawa stressed that Japan pays close attention to the situation in the Middle East, expressing Tokyo’s deep concern about the current situation in Lebanon.

She stressed the importance of avoiding the exchange of attacks and calming
the situation in Lebanon, noting that Japan is communicating with all concerned parties to reduce tension in the Middle East.
