Amman: In response to a question regarding the political ecosystem and whether it reflects the reality and aspirations of today, Mubaideen said: “The political ecosystem is able to guide us to the right path and thus enables the state to empower and overcome mistakes. What is new in the outcomes of the political ecosystem is that there will be parliamentary councils elected on a programmatic basis, as parties are allocated 30 percent of the seats in the next parliament and 50 percent of the next council, which will then rise to 65 percent of the seats of the House of Representatives in future councils.”

On the role of universities, Mubaideen emphasized the importance of universities’ great role in motivating and driving young people to participate in political life, especially the upcoming parliamentary elections, and urge them to take the initiative in preparing the next generation.

He added that universities and educational institutions also have a role to play, so that young people reach full conviction
to engage in the political scene.

Mubaideen listened to inquiries and questions of the attendees from the faculty members and students, which focused on the political modernization ecosystem and participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

For his part, Chairman of MEU’s Board of Trustees, Yaqoub Nasreddine, presented a perspective on the political path that Jordan is embarking on, citing the King’s discussion papers, especially the fifth one, which constitutes a basic blueprint for deepening democracy in the Kingdom.

He called for positive participation in the electoral process and reminded of the fundamental duty of all citizens, especially those who participate in political and civic life, to contribute constructively to the national discourse, rather than resorting to uninformed criticism.

The session, which was moderated by media faculty member, Hani Albadri, was attended by the Government Communication Secretary General Zaid Nawaiseh, MEU President, Salam Mahadeen, deans of colleges, and a
group of academics, specialists, and the university students.
