JICA Highlights Progress of “Wellness Clusters” Project in Jordan

Amman: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced significant progress in the “Formulation and Promotion of Wellness Clusters in Jordan” Project, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply and the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI).

In a press release on Thursday, JICA reported that four Dead Sea product companies have been selected to receive marketing and promotional training, product development recommendations, and opportunities to attend health, beauty, and cosmetics exhibitions in Asian countries such as Indonesia and Japan.

A recent symposium at ACI’s headquarters showcased these four companies, where they presented the benefits gained from the project’s marketing, promotional, and brand development efforts.

The project also involves a service component, where three local travel agencies were selected for promotional advisory activities. These agencies will be matched with international travel counterparts and attend international travel exhibitions over
the next two years.

This initiative aims to open new Asian markets and promote Jordan as a health, entertainment, and wellness destination, emphasizing the use of Dead Sea products for skin care and relaxation.

Additionally, the project collaborates with local academic institutions to help Jordanian Dead Sea product companies enhance and market their products based on scientific qualities and proven features.

JICA highlighted that Dead Sea skin care products are one of Jordan’s unique offerings. In 2022, the Ministry sought technical cooperation from JICA to establish a strong foundation for developing, promoting, and marketing these products, positioning Jordan as a prime destination for wellness and recreation tourism.

On Wednesday, JICA, in cooperation with the Ministry, ACI, and JICA’s Advisor PADECO, held a session with stakeholders from government institutions involved in the project, including the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, the Jordan Export House, and the Jordan Standards and Metro
logy Organization. The session featured presentations and discussions on the project’s progress and the roles of each government partner.
