RAMALLAH: Israeli colonists today torched agricultural land on the outskirts of the al-Mughayyir village, north of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to local sources.

They said that colonists mounted an attack on the eastern environs of the village, setting fire to a large tract of agricultural land, some of which is planted with olive trees, and destroying dozens of trees.

They added that Israeli occupation forces called firefighting trucks to put off the fire.

The occupation forces have continued to prevent the villagers from accessing their land since the onset of the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing 41,272 Palestinians and injuring 95,551 others.

Similar to other Palestinian villages, al-Mughayyir has become the target of frequent colonists’ militia attacks and acts of rampage, most notably three months ago when the assailants set many houses and vehicles ablaze.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their propert
y is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
