The value of certificates of origin issued by Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) during the January-June period 2024 amounted to $486.4 million, compared to $486.6 million for the same period last year.

According to the ICI statistical report, a total of 6,839 certificates of origin were issued by the chamber during the first half of the current year, compared to 5,746 certificates for the same period last year.

During the first half of this year, value of leather and textile industries’ exports topped Irbid’s sectors at $434.8 million, then the catering, food, agricultural and livestock industries at $20.3 million and followed by the therapeutic industries and medical supplies at $11.9 million.

Meanwhile, chemical and cosmetics industries’ exports amounted for $9.6 million, engineering, electrical and information technology industries stood at $4.1 million, plastic and rubber industries at $3.2 million, then construction industries at $1.4 million, packaging, paper, and office supplies industries at $800,000
and mining industries at $500,000.

Al-Hassan Industrial Estate (HIE) accounted for 94% of the total exports, followed by the Cyber ??City with a percentage not exceeding 5%, the ICI figures showed.

In a statement, ICI head, Hani Abu Hassan, said 67% of the chamber’s exports went to the United States, and its exports under the Arab agreement grew by about 21% to reach about $40.2 million.

Abu Hassan added that growth in the food and catering, engineering and therapeutic industries and medical supplies contributed to mitigate decline in the leather, textile, chemical, and cosmetics sectors.
