Iraq and Syria discussed cooperation in environmental programs and promoting the use of non-conventional water resources.

A statement by the Ministry of Water Resources stated that a joint meeting was held between the two national committees of the intergovernmental hydrological program for Iraq and Syria, in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab, and the Minister of Water Resources of the Syrian Arab Republic, Tammam Raad, and a number of specialists from the two ministries.

According to the statement, technical matters were discussed extensively and the horizons of cooperation between the two countries expanded in light of the recommendations reached in the previous attendance meeting, which include the establishment of a joint electronic platform for the two national committees that includes data for all research and striving to conduct joint research in related fields with capacity development and exchange Experiences, as well as developing and implementing awareness programs for environmental risks, as well as promoting the use of non-traditional water sources, in addition to establishing and developing joint monitoring and monitoring stations for water in the main sites of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
