The Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulkarim Amiruddin Al-Houthi, directed the General Directorate of Traffic to extend the decision to reduce the value of old traffic violations and waive the fees for late renewals of the driver’s license for sixty days.

The Ministry of Interior explained in a statement that only one thousand riyals will be charged for each traffic violation committed before May 2022, and the fees for late renewals of the vehicle’s driving license (ownership document) for all previous years will be exempted, and the renewal fees will be limited to the last year only.

The decision comes in commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, and in consideration of the Interior’s Minister consideration for the citizens’ circumstances , and his keenness for everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to correct their situation and utilize the grace period to alleviate their suffering.

In this context, the Traffic Police called on citizens to take advantage of the initiative of the In
terior Minister and expedite the correction of their situation by attending the General Directorate of Traffic and its branches in the provinces, or through the website or electronic application of the Traffic, or through the e-sadad electronic platform, banks, exchange companies and shops, e-wallets, or post offices in the free provinces.

It stressed that the decision implementation will start from the day after tomorrow, Saturday, the fourth of Rabiul Awwal 1446 AH, corresponding to September 7, 2024 AD.

The Traffic Police expressed its appreciation to the leadership of the Interior Ministry for the humanitarian initiative to take into account the suffering of citizens and their difficult circumstances.
