The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced the arrest of two terrorists, one of whom impersonated the name of his murdered brother in Baghdad and Nineveh.

The INSS said in a statement that “through intelligence efforts and field follow-up to pursue the remnants of the terrorist ISIS organization, the Iraqi National Security Service detachments in Baghdad carried out a qualitative operation that resulted in the overthrow of one of the ISIS gang terrorists nicknamed (Abu Anas al-Iraqi), who works within what was called the Salah al-Din Province and is wanted according to the provisions of Article (4 / Terrorism).”

INSS added that “the terrorist was moving between the governorates of Salah al-Din, Anbar and Baghdad and was injured in one of the battles he fought against the security forces on Samarra Island, after which he moved to Tarmiyah district north of Baghdad and worked in the armor resistance detachments where he specialized in using the (SBG9) weapon and training on it.”

t continued that “after the liberation operations were over, the terrorist moved again to the capital, Baghdad, to forge his official documents and impersonate his murdered brother, and he also issued a forged death certificate in his real name, but the INSS’s men were on the lookout for him and he was overthrown.”

In a related context, the detachments of the INSS were able, according to accurate intelligence information, to arrest one of the elements of the terrorist organization ISIS hiding in one of the farms of Makhmur district in Nineveh Governorate since the end of the liberation operations.

The statement explained that “the arrested terrorist, nicknamed (Alawi Shat), was working in the ranks of the organization as an administrator in Dhi al-Nurain sector in the so-called Wilayat of North Baghdad, and he participated in several terrorist operations targeting security forces and citizens, and he also attacked the Karkh water project in Tarmiyah district with mortar shells.”

The statement pointed out t
hat “through the course of the investigation, the accused confessed to also carrying out the tasks of distributing monthly guarantees and providing logistical support to the terrorist detachments that were present in the orchards of Tarmiyah.”

The accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law.
