In protest against abuse of their female colleagues in Israeli jails, prisoners refuse meals and security checks

Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails continued, for the second day in a row, their protest steps in response to the arbitrary measures taken by the prison administrations against the female and male freedom fighters in the Naqab, Ofer and Megiddo prisons.

Since yesterday, the prisoners began to return their breakfast and refused to go out for the so-called “security check”.

A state of tension prevailed in all the prisons yesterday after female prisoners in Damon prison were attacked by the guards, spraying them with tear and pepper gas, abusing prisoners in several prisons, and continuing to isolate some of them.

The rise in tension in the prisons was caused after raids by the repression units against several departments in Ofer, Naqab, Megiddo, and Damon prisons, assaulting prisoners, isolating dozens, and confiscating their belongings.

The repression in the prisons was escalated by the fascist Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir who vowed to make life miserable for the 4500 Palestinian freedom fighters serving time in Israeli jails for their resistance of the occupation.

These measures included closing two bakeries run by the prisoners that provide fresh bread to the prisoner, moving prisoners around at all times, preventing family visitation, seizing belongings and canteen products, as well as regular raids at cells and sections.

The prisoners have warned that these repressive measures will not be taken lightly by the prisoners and are bound to escalate the situation in the prisons.
