Human Rights Ministry: American hegemony turned WFP into war tool

Human Rights Ministry expressed deep regret over the decision taken by the WFP to what it called a ‘temporary suspension’ of the general food aid program in all areas under Supreme Political Council authority .

A statement issued by the ministry said, ‘This decision, as much as it explains the American decision’s control over the activities of the WFP.

It reveals the American mentality in dealing with humanitarian files, and Washington has always used and employed starvation as a tool of war and as one of its political means to subjugate or blackmail, without caring.’ “Because of the suffering that this abhorrent employment could cause to civilians.”

The ministry said: The WFP has practiced a stubborn escalatory path consistent with the American threats to our country during the previous stage and has repeatedly reduced its aid until it reached a complete cessation in conjunction with the principled positions of our people towards the oppression of the Palestinians, which represents additional evidence of
lack of neutrality.

The statement added: The WFP also stopped its humanitarian activities in the provinces falling under the authority of the Supreme Political Council only, and this behavior is not related to a decrease in resources at all, but rather comes in line with the malicious political agenda undertaken by the United States in the context of its efforts to divide the country and undermine its unity and independence.

It consequences of continuing to politicize the humanitarian file and humanitarian aid on the lives of millions who are at risk of famine and death.

The statement held “the United States of America responsible for the serious humanitarian repercussions resulting from this decision.”
