HEBRON – Ma’an – Today, Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin met in his office with the head of the Plastic Industries Union and member of the Hebron Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Kamel Al-Zeer Al-Husseini, and the economic advisor and member of the Chamber Ahmed Hassouna, in the presence of the Director of Hebron Police, Brigadier General Tariq Al-Hajj, with the aim of informing him of the results of the tours they conducted on food traders and importers, and some food factories in Hebron.

During the meeting, they stressed that traders and importers have a stock that meets citizens’ needs for several months, praising the role of traders in maintaining food security, and calling on citizens not to panic.

During the meeting, they discussed the problems facing traders, especially cash deposits in banks, and stressed the importance of the Hebron Governor intervening with the Monetary Authority and facilitating the work of traders during this period, especially food traders, so that they can complete the purch
ase of goods from abroad and ship them to the Palestinian market without complications from the banks, to maintain the continuity of the flow of food to the markets.

During the meeting, the importance of coordinating efforts between all relevant authorities was emphasized, to mitigate the impact and consequences of the events on citizens.

For his part, Governor Dudin stressed that food security is a top priority, appreciating the efforts made by the private sector in the Hebron Governorate, especially with regard to food and basic commodities despite all the difficult circumstances.

The governor said: “The situation is reassuring and stable for citizens’ needs during the coming period, which requires more cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities to impose strict control over prices and protect the consumer.”

The governor stressed that the relevant governmental and civil authorities need more coordination, imposing price controls in the markets, holding violators accountable, and prote
cting citizens from any exploitation.

For his part, Brigadier Al-Hajj stressed that the police force is always ready to cooperate and provide everything required to create a state of stability, as the economy is the main component in the life of society and the requirements of the Palestinian citizen.

In a related context, and within the efforts made to achieve integration and unify efforts between private sector institutions, Al-Husseini and Hassouna met with the head of the Foodstuffs Trade Union, Wassim Al-Jabri, in the presence of a number of members of the Board of Directors, where mechanisms for unifying efforts to maintain food security and facilitate matters for citizens were discussed.
