Health Minister calls on Red Cross to pressure Israel to release critically ill Palestinian prisoner Abu Hmeid

In a meeting today with the Head of the Red Cross delegation in Palestine, Elise Dubov, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila urged the international humanitarian organization to pressure Israel to release the critically ill Palestinian prisoner Nasser Abu Hmeid.

Alkaila told Dubov that the treatment of the Israeli authorities of the ill prisoners is a blatant violation of all international treaties and conventions, accusing Israel of premeditated medical negligence of the prisoners.

She said Abu Hmeid, who is suffering from cancer and is currently in intensive care at an Israeli hospital, is very critical and the government is doing all it can to secure his release.
