Head of Turkish Intelligence Ibrahim Kalin held a meeting with leaders of the Political Bureau of Hamas in the Turkish capital Ankara today, Friday.

Turkish intelligence sources stated in a press statement that during the meeting, the latest developments related to the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and the prisoner and detainee exchange deal were discussed.

The two sides also discussed the necessary steps to ensure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and deliver more humanitarian aid to the Strip.

During the meeting, Hamas’s constructive and positive position in the negotiation process was confirmed, and that Israel’s introduction of new conditions in the text of the agreed proposal supported by UN Security Council resolutions made the ceasefire process difficult.

Turkish intelligence continues its contacts with relevant parties and actors to ensure a ceasefire since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza. It also plays a fundamental role in the intensive diplomatic movement with all parties, especially the
leadership of the Hamas movement, Egypt, Qatar, the United States and Israel.
