HAJJAH – SABA – Hajjah Governor Hilal al-Sufi and the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Ismail al-Muhayem, have inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several significant road projects valued at $869,000, in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

The ceremony marked the commencement of the Ma’azab-Qaraara road paving project in the province center. This initiative includes the stone paving of 14 road sections, complete with culverts and retaining walls, extending 950 meters and costing $152,000.

The project is being executed by the Abbs Development Organization with funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the “SERI” project for institutional and economic resilience in Yemen, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development and the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs.

Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the first phase of the rehabilitation and expansion of the main entrance road to Hajjah city. This project w
ill extend 950 meters in length and 16 meters in width, with a budget of $405,000. It is also managed by the Abbs Development Organization and funded by the UNDP under the “SERI” project, with coordination from relevant local and humanitarian bodies.

Another key project involves asphalting and improving the main street in Aman city, Najra district, at a cost of $312,000. This project is similarly undertaken by the Abbs Development Organization with UNDP funding.

During the inauguration, Governor al-Sufi and Secretary-General al-Muhayem underscored the importance of these sustainable projects, which aim to meet citizens’ needs and enhance service levels.

They highlighted the priority given to road projects by local authorities and the ongoing support from the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, as well as the role of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs in the implementation of these projects.

The Director of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs branch called on all
humanitarian partners to adopt a similar approach in infrastructure and sustainable development projects.

The Directors of the Governorate Center, Issam al-Wazzan, and Najra district, Kamal al-Sufi, expressed their appreciation for the efforts made to alleviate citizens’ suffering and facilitate mobility. UNDP Coordinator Nayef Murshid and Abbs Organization Project Manager Mohannad al-Mukhlafi emphasized the significance of these projects in supporting local authorities’ service delivery to citizens.
