Sa’ada Governor Mohamed Jaber Awad was briefed on Tuesday on the extent of the damage caused by torrential rains in the old city of Sa’ada and neighboring districts today.

Governor Awad, along with the governorate’s undersecretary Mohamed al-Baadani, listened to an explanation from the people of the affected areas about the extent of the damage to their properties, including homes, farms and facilities, and the work of emergency treatments by opening outlets for floods and suction water.

During the visit, Governor Awad stressed on the concerned authorities to carry out their duty to assess the situation by taking advantage of the reality on the ground and avoiding this in the future.

He stressed that the old city of Sa’ada needs a serious gesture by the state and the government to address the current situation in the historic old city and address the humanitarian situation of its residents.

He explained that the city lacks a project to drain flood water and treat sewage, pointing out that the rainy season
causes real suffering to its residents through the leakage of water to their homes, some of which fall.
