Government interest in cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency in the safe uses of nuclear technology

The National Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical and Biological Regulatory Authority confirmed the interest of the Iraqi government and its positive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in the fields of building and developing national capabilities in peaceful nuclear applications, through technical cooperation programs and projects as well as training and development opportunities.

The head of the authority, Fadhel Hawi, said that the “training program” Human Resources Development for Emerging Nuclear Energy Countries in the International Atomic Energy Agency, which was held in the cities of Shandong and Yantai in China, included field trips to the city of YANTAI (city) of nuclear power reactors, lectures on the history of the development of nuclear energy in China and the current status of nuclear energy, as well as a visit to the SHANDONG Museum of Nuclear Energy Technology and Science, vocational training on nuclear energy technology and current developments, reviewing a case study of trai
ning specialists in nuclear energy, as well as a professional visit to RONGFA NUCLEAR EQUIPMENT and conducting practical training on manufacturing nuclear equipment.

He added, “Lectures were given in the field of nuclear energy, focusing on information about the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant, as well as a professional visit to YANKE HENGHUI TECHNOLOGY and practical training on the applications of the nuclear technology company,” noting that “technical cooperation programs and projects over the past years have contributed to enhancing the optimal and safe use of radiation and nuclear technology in the country, as well as the importance of developing national capabilities through technical cooperation programs and projects.
