Doha: May 21 – Officials and experts participating in the Global Security Forum 2024 highlighted the importance of investment in human capital to achieve African unity and self-reliance.

The statements came on the second day of the event now held in Doha under the theme “Strategic Competition: The Complexity of Interdependence”.

HE Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat called for unifying efforts to enhance Africa’s position on the international arena.

Meanwhile, he stressed the importance of the role of the United Nations in finding a solution to the Palestinian issue, stressing the need for more unity at the global and African levels.

HE Director General of the National Intelligence Agency for the Republic of Nigeria Ambassador Ahmed Abubakar, stressed the need to achieve the delicate balance required for security in the world and maintain the current momentum, indicating that there are old and new actors and major and middle powers that are gradually playing essential roles i
n the process of shaping global and regional security issues.

In another context, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Togo Robert Ducey, stressed the importance of the African countries’ efforts to find sustainable solutions amid global geopolitical changes that have impacts on Africa.

HE US Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, Roger Carstens, highlighted the importance of gathering information about hostages and the key US government’s efforts in this regard.
