Madaba: President of German Jordanian University (GJU), Dr. Ala’aldeen Halhouli, on Thursday met with Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DEIA) delegation, who comprised of its Secretary-General, Martin Houghton-Brown, and Director of Operations, Jamie Lock, in the presence of Director of El Hassan Youth Award, Ayman Mefleh.

The two sides discussed aspects of launching joint cooperation and providing the opportunity for the GJU’s students and Jordanian youth to benefit from the two awards’ programs and develop their skills and personalities, to serve their community and country.

Halhouli stressed the importance of El Hassan Youth Award’s programs in providing Jordanian youth with various life skills that will raise their awareness level about society and its challenges.

Halhouli added that this ward is also “key” to discover Jordan’s history and cultural heritage and learn about its institutions and their role in the process of construction and development.

Meanwhile, Mefleh stressed the necessity of
launching joint projects and initiatives between the award and GJU, pointing out that “constructive” cooperation can achieve aspirations of Jordanian youth and secure “distinguished” opportunities for growth and development.

For his part, Brown stressed that DEIA sees the Jordanian award as an “important” partner in achieving its goals of empowering youth, indicating that cooperation with the GJU will contribute to provide “quality” programs that contribute to refine young people’s skills and develop their personal and professional capabilities.
