French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday called on the Israeli occupation not to start a new military operations in southern Gaza Strip and to heed calls for immediate ceasefire in the densely-populated Palestinian territory.

This came in a phone between Macron and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the French BFM TV reported quoting the French Presidency, the Elysee. Marcon warned that any new military operation near Khan Younis and Rafah would only worsen the already catastrophic humanitarian situation there.

He reiterated to the extreme urgency of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and called for the implementation of US President Joe Biden’s ceasefire proposal “without further delay”.

The French President also voiced deep concern about the escalation on the Lebanese borders.

He stressed the absolute necessity of preventing a confrontation that would harm the interests of both sides and would constitute a particularly dangerous development for regional stabil
ity.

Macron urged all parties to seek a diplomatic solution to defuse the tension.
