Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates , Ayman Safadi, on Thursday, met with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Ati, and discussed efforts to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza, put an end to what is causing a humanitarian catastrophe and the threat it poses to regional security.

In order to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire, secure immediate access for humanitarian aid to all areas of Gaza, open all crossings for the entry of immediate, sufficient, and unconditional aid to the Palestinian people throughout the Gaza Strip, and initiate a practical plan, Safadi and Abdel Ati reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their joint efforts in coordination and consultation with friendly and brotherly nations. The two-state solution must be implemented successfully if the conflict is to be resolved and a fair and permanent peace to be achieved.

Safadi and Abdel Ati held Israel entirely accountable for the humanitarian disaster brought about by its siege of Gaza, its
obstruction of sufficient aid entry, and its flagrant disregard for international humanitarian law and international humanitarian law when targeting UNRWA and other organizations.

The two ministers affirmed their rejection of any future approach that does not treat Gaza as part of the occupied Palestinian territory, and guarantees Israel’s withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip, including the Philadelphia axis and the Rafah crossing.

They emphasized that any proposal regarding Gaza’s future had to be a part of a comprehensive plan that established Gaza’s status as occupied Palestinian territory, acknowledged its organic and inextricable connection to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, addressed the underlying issues that led to the occupation, and embodied the idea of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, and on the basis of the two-state solution.

Safadi and Abdel Ati declared that they w
ould not relocate Palestinians from their seized territory, either inside or outside of it, and that Jordan and Egypt would use all of their resources to stop this from happening.

The two ministers denounced as a risky escalation and a breach of international law the Israeli Knesset’s decision to reject the creation of a Palestinian state, as well as another proof of Israel’s subversion of all attempts to bring about a just and comprehensive peace.

Safadi and Abdel Ati emphasized that in order to encourage more nations to recognize the state of Palestine and push for its admittance as a full member of the UN, they will cooperate and coordinate with Arab nations and the Arab-Islamic Liaison Committee.

The two ministers emphasized the need to develop an international stance requiring Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem. They also denounced the radical racist Israeli minister’s today storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling it a pr
ovocative act and a violation of international law.

The top diplomats stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque – Al-Haram Al-Sharif is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims and the Jerusalem Waqf Administration, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole authority responsible for managing all affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque – Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulating entry into it within the framework of the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Safadi and Abdel Ati issued a warning, stating that the likelihood of the conflict spreading throughout the area and jeopardizing regional and global peace and security is increased by Israel’s ongoing assault against Gaza and its illegal actions in the occupied West Bank.

In order to stop any escalation, the two ministers reaffirmed their solidarity for the sisterly Lebanese Republic, their rejection of any attack on it, and the imperative of upholding Security Council Resolution No. 1701.

In their coordi
nated efforts to halt the aggression and defend all of the Palestinian people’s rights, particularly their right to freedom and a state on their own territory, Safadi and Abdel Ati reaffirmed their ongoing coordination and consultation.
