Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, along with other members of the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, participated in the meeting on Palestine on Friday, which was also attended by Spain, Slovenia, Norway, Ireland and the European Union.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during the meeting, the steps that can be taken to stop the genocidal crimes committed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank were discussed.

The meeting also discussed the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and humanitarian aid efforts, and discussed the necessary steps to recognize Palestine and reach a two-state solution, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

In the declaration adopted at the end of the meeting, a call was made to the international community to recognize Palestine as soon as possible and support the two-state solution. The necessity of declaring a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible and stopping attacks targeting Palestinians in the West Bank was
also emphasized.

The declaration also stipulated the need for urgent and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to reach Gaza and support the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). It was also decided to hold a new meeting in New York on the occasion of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, which will be held at the end of next September.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in its statement that Minister Hakan Fidan called in the meetings he attended for the need to increase joint initiatives so that the State of Palestine becomes a full member of the United Nations and is recognized by more countries, and stressed the importance of pressuring countries that oppose these steps.

Fidan also called on more countries to intervene in the genocide case filed against Israel in the International Court of Justice.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed in its statement that Turkey will continue to work to ensure an immediate and permanent ceasefire, ensure uninterrupted access of human
itarian aid to Gaza, recognize Palestine and take the necessary steps towards a two-state solution.
