Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that his country awaits the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s next step in order to respond accordingly.

On his way back from berlin, after attending the Euro 2024 quarter finals between Turkiye and the Netherlands, the Turkish president said in press release that his country will respond and take initiative once Al-Assad takes a step to reconcile and improve the relations.

“Yesterday, we were not enemies with Syria. We met with Al-Assad as a family,” Erdogan continued.

Erdogan reiterated his Country’s willingness to restore ties with Syria and extended an invitation to bring back relations to how they were in the past.

Regarding the war in Gaza, Erdogan asserted that the Israeli occupation must let go of its intent to spread conflict in the region.

He pointed to the last few days bearing some good developments, mentioning that the Mossad’s chief discussed with Hamas leaders the prospect of achieving a permanent ceasefire.

However, the Turkish Pre
sident reaffirmed that the international community, specifically the west, must increase pressure on the Israeli occupation.

Whereas concerning the outcome of the recent elections in Iran, Erdogan said that the newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian is of Turkish and Azerbaijani Descent; he continued saying that he will call to congratulate him, and he is eager further develop relations with Iran.
