Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Tuesday developments in the Israeli war on Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire and restore security and stability in the region.

The Egyptian leader said it is high time to stop the ongoing war, heed the voice of reason and wisdom and uphold peace and diplomacy, warning of an expansion of the conflict in the region with “unimaginable consequences.”

Blinken briefed El Sisi on the outcome of his visit to Israel, stressing US commitment to bringing calm and reaching an agreement.

The meeting tackled Egyptian, US and Qatari mediation towards a Gaza ceasefire and a prisoner swap.
