Egypt’s Pres. names new head of secret service

Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi issued a decree on Wednesday to appoint Maj.-Gen Hassan Rashad as president of the General Intelligence Service, replacing Maj.-Gen. Abbas Kamel.

Under the decree, Maj.-Gen. Kamel was appointed presidential advisor, personal envoy of the president of the republic and general coordinator of the security services, Egypt’s MENA news agency reported.

Maj.-Gen. Rashad has been sworn in as head of the country’s secret service.
