Earthquake of 4.9 Magnitude Strikes Fiji in South Pacific

An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Fiji Islands in the South Pacific on Monday.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred 85 km from Levuka, located south of the Fiji Islands, and was at a depth of 614.5 km.

No reports of casualties or material damage have been reported due to the earthquake so far.

Fiji Islands are located in an area called the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed from time to time to many aftershocks and earthquakes that may be strong.
