The workshop comes in line with the vision of the DI, Al-Monitor and Semafor to train and build the capacities of journalism students and emerging journalists in media institutions, by transferring expertise and bridging between the media industry and educational institutions.

The topics discussed included studying the audience and its importance to the media in the Middle East, the most important digital methods and techniques for writing news reports, in addition to covering conflict zones and economic issues.

It also discussed methods of verifying news and techniques for investigative reporting.

Head of the Journalism Program at the DI, Dr. Basem Al Tawisi, said that the aim of holding such workshops is to develop the outcomes of media and journalism educ

He expressed the institute’s aspiration to raise the efficiency of students, improve their skills, and bridge the gap between journalism and media education centers in Qatar and media industry centers in the world, especially advanced institutions in the news industry.

For his part, President of Al-Monitor, Andrew Parasiliti said that this initiative represents an exceptional opportunity to participate in educating and training a group of graduate students in journalism from across the Middle East, on the best practices, modern methodologies and technological developments that shape the independent media industry.
