Coalition of students at Georgetown University in US describes Israel as an apartheid state

A broad coalition of graduate and undergraduate students at Georgetown University described Israel as an apartheid state.

The collation in a statement declared that it has successfully blocked $30,000 of student funding from financing a trip to Israel with the pro-Israel organization, itrek, and has fully cut the trip’s institutional links to Georgetown University and the university’s Graduate Student Government (GradGov), in line with BDS principles of academic boycott.

The statement revealed that the pro-Israel organization (itrek) finances $250,000 for a one-week trip for 50-100 Georgetown graduate students.

The statement explained that the opposition to the trip was based primarily on the nature of the partnering pro-Israel organization, itrek, “whose purpose is to whitewash the Occupation of Palestine,” said the statement.

The destination of the trip to an Apartheid state that enforces military rule on millions of Palestinians and occupies their land was one of the reasons to object to the trip, said the statement.
