The foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt underlined Monday that it is essential to seriously and positively engage with US President Joe Biden’s proposal on a ceasefire and aid delivery across Gaza.

This came during a virtual meeting of the foreign ministers, which focused on mediation efforts undertaken by Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. to reach a prisoner swap deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire, the release of prisoners and detainees, and adequate delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry said in a release.

The ministers stressed the need to stop the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Palestinian territory, end the humanitarian catastrophe it triggers, ease the repatriation of displaced persons to their areas, and demand a full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the enclave, it said.

They also called for launching a reconstruction process as part of an all-inclusive plan to put the two-state solution in place, based on relevant
UN Security Council resolutions, with specified timelines and binding guarantees, the ministry added.
