Geneva – Ma’an – The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that the Israeli army committed horrific atrocities against civilians during its 4-day storming of the western neighborhoods of Gaza City.

The Observatory reported that the Israeli army forces retreated early Friday morning from the “industrial” area and the vicinity of the universities west of Gaza City, after having penetrated it at dawn on Monday, July 8, during which they launched dozens of raids, in addition to storming homes and abusing residents, amid reports of the martyrdom of more than 60 Palestinians who were found in the streets and alleys, some of whom were scattered and dismembered bodies, and some of whom were charred.

The Observatory confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces committed atrocities during that period, including premeditated murder, widespread destruction and burning of homes and civilian buildings, in addition to forcing families to flee to the central and southern Gaza Strip.

He said that the Israeli occupat
ion army carried out field executions of entire families after raiding their homes. The observatory also documented cases of torture and received testimonies about Israeli army forces carrying out widespread looting and thefts.

The Observatory confirmed that the Israeli army had re-destroyed the Friends of the Patient Hospital for the second time, after it had been restored about a month ago. The Israeli army also bombed the Al-Salam Clinic, the only health center in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.

In addition to destroying and burning many homes, the Israeli army also caused extensive damage to UNRWA schools in the vicinity of the ‘industrial’ area.

Rescue teams are facing difficulties in retrieving victims from under the rubble of homes and buildings targeted by Israeli bombing, due to the lack of necessary equipment.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on all countries to “assume their international responsibilities to stop the crime of genocide and protect civilians in th
e Gaza Strip, impose effective sanctions on Israel, and stop all forms of political, financial and military support and cooperation provided to it, including the immediate cessation of arms transfers to it, including export licenses and military aid. Otherwise, these countries will be complicit and partners in the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, including the crime of genocide.”

He called for “a comprehensive and impartial international investigation into the crimes and serious violations committed against the population of the Gaza Strip and their property by the Israeli army forces, which constitute full-fledged and self-contained war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

The Observatory urged the International Criminal Court to expedite the issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, and to expand the scope of investigation into individual criminal responsibility for crimes committed in the Gaza Strip to include all those responsible
for them, and to issue arrest warrants against them, hold them accountable and accountable, and to recognize and deal with the crimes committed by Israel as a crime of genocide.
