London: The leaders of France, Germany and Britain Monday called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the urgent and unfettered delivery and distribution of aid to the people of the enclave.

“There can be no further delay in negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza,” French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a joint statement, warning of a further escalation of the conflict.

They said the fighting must end now, and all hostages still detained by Hamas must be released, adding that they are concerned by the heightened tension in the region and united in their commitment to de-escalation and regional stability.

The leaders said they were working with all parties to prevent escalation and will spare no effort to reduce tension and find a path to stability.
