Baghdad: US officials confirmed on Saturday that the Secret Service has sent a number of members of President Joe Biden’s special protection team to help his opponent plan ahead for election rallies and other events, indicating that this time armored glass and drones will be used during upcoming speeches.
The officials explained that “agents from the Presidential Protection Department are currently working to coordinate and enhance security for candidates in the run-up to the November 5 presidential election,” noting that “these agents who help candidates are not among those tasked with protecting Biden.”
According to the officials, “the means of protecting the Republican candidate, who was subjected to the worst attack on an American president in decades, range from using armored glass sheets on stage during election events,” noting that “usually these sheets provided by the Department of Defense are reserved for presidents and vice presidents only, and therefore using them to protect Trump is a major enha
ncement to his security.”
Other measures are also expected, such as increasing the use of drones, to monitor the security of these election events, which are often crowded with supporters.
Such measures are often taken when world leaders visit the United States or during major gatherings such as the United Nations General Assembly in New York
