Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul Gheit, said on Wednesday that Jordan faces challenges due to aggressive Israeli acts in the Middle East, warning these conducts will push the region into an expanded military conflict.

He added in a post on (X) that the region is going through a delicate phase that has led to consequences affecting Jordan, warning these repercussions “will be a disaster for everyone.” Abul Gheit’s comments came after his meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II, in the Jordanian capital Amman, as part of a delegation of the joint Arab-Islamic ministerial committee charged with ending the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The Jordanian capital, today, is hosting a meeting of the joint ministerial committee to discuss Arab and Islamic action during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, due later this month.

The committee is headed by the Saudi Foreign Minister. Its members are the foreign ministers of Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Turkiye, Indonesia an
d Nigeria, in addition to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The committee was formed based on a decision from the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023, aimed at formulating an international position to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and boost efforts for peace in the region.
