Member of the Arab Coordination Committee in Kirkuk, Khalil Al-Aboudi, confirmed that forming the local government in Kirkuk is not an easy matter and there are interferences in its formation.

He said in a statement, “Forming the local government in the province is a complex and not easy issue,” stressing that “there were violations that occurred during the provincial council sessions, including not electing the governor and his deputies and others.”

He pointed out that “everyone wants to maintain the position of governor and this is unacceptable, as the Arab Coordination Committee in the province put forward an initiative regarding the formation of the local government last week.”

He explained that “the issue of the governor’s position should be the share of the bloc that won the largest number of seats, and that the Prime Minister has no legal authority to impose powers on the provincial council.”

He said, “There are no signs on the horizon to resolve the crisis of forming the local government in the pr
ovince,” noting that “there are negative interferences to resolve the crisis of forming the local government in the province.”

He concluded by saying, “We want positive interferences to resolve the crisis of forming the local government in Kirkuk province.
