The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that Ankara will continue to take the necessary steps aimed at ensuring an urgent and permanent ceasefire in Palestine, delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, ensuring further recognition of Palestine, and achieving the two-state solution.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued last night in response to the joint statement of the meeting on Palestine, which was held in Madrid: The joint statement of the meeting calls for the recognition of the State of Palestine as soon as possible, and calls on the international community to support efforts for a two-state solution.

It stated in its statement that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan participated in the meeting with his counterparts in the Arab-Islamic Contact Group, in addition to the participation of Spain, Slovenia, Norway, Ireland and the European Union.

It pointed out that the meeting discussed the steps that could be taken to stop the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza, and the crimes committ
ed in the West Bank, and at the end of it, the adopted declaration called on the international community to recognize Palestine as soon as possible and support the two-state solution.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry added in its statement that the joint statement stressed the need to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza without interruption, and the need to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

It explained that her Minister Hakan Fidan stressed during the meetings in which he participated the importance of increasing joint initiatives to make the Palestinian state a “full member” of the United Nations, and for more countries to recognize it, and the need to pressure countries that oppose these steps.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that it was decided to hold a new meeting in New York within the framework of the UN General Assembly week, late this September regarding Palestine and the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
