Amnesty International: Zionist entity issues “misleading” warnings to evacuate areas in Lebanon

The Amnesty International announced that the Zionist entity is issuing “misleading” warnings to residents to evacuate areas in southern Lebanon and the southern suburb of Beirut, expressing its concerns that the warnings are primarily aimed at uprooting residents from the border area.

Agnes Callamard, the organization’s secretary-general, said in a statement on Friday that “the Zionist army’s warnings to residents of the suburb, a densely populated neighborhood in southern Beirut, were inappropriate.”

She stated that the organization analyzed more than 12 evacuation warnings and maps and conducted interviews with residents in southern Lebanon and the southern suburb, adding that the warnings included /misleading maps/ and were published “shortly before, in one case, less than 30 minutes before the strikes began, in the middle of the night, via social media, while many residents were asleep.”

Callamar said that “the Zionist entity’s warnings in southern Lebanon cover wide geographical areas, which raises concerns if they are instead designed to provoke a mass displacement process.”

She added, “The conditions created by the Zionist entity’s actions in southern Lebanon risk the forced displacement of the majority of the civilian population there.”
