Dr. Ali Al-Zikam, Secretary-General of the Local Council of Mahweet province, has confirmed that local authorities, civil defense, and other relevant agencies are engaged in intensive efforts to locate missing persons in Malhan district.

This follows severe rockslides triggered by heavy rains that have impacted the area since yesterday.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Dr. Al-Zikam reported that efforts are underway to clear roads and access areas affected by the rockslides.

The recent torrential rains have caused extensive damage, including the destruction of 28 homes and the death of 33 citizens whose bodies have been recovered so far.

Additionally, there are ongoing efforts to locate other missing individuals. The disaster has also resulted in the partial damage of 200 homes and the loss of five vehicles.

Dr. Al-Zikam assured that emergency shelter and food supplies will be provided to the affected families in collaboration with relevant authorities.

He called for unified efforts to
support the province’s leadership in urgently addressing the needs of those impacted and managing the aftermath of the floods in the district.
