Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed, today, Monday, the cancellation of all exceptions previously granted to industrial, commercial and official centers and the inclusion of everyone in the hours of electricity supply during the current three months.

Al-Sudani confirmed, during his chairmanship, today, Monday, of the twenty-fifth regular session of the Council of Ministers, that the government program targeted the electricity and energy sector intensively; In order to sustain the provision of this service to the citizen, indicating that the concerned institutions, along with all state institutions and local governments, are concerned with combining efforts to overcome this crisis.

A statement by the Prime Minister’s media office stated that the Cabinet session witnessed the follow-up of service and economic files, the discussion of the general conditions in the country, and the discussion of a number of files related to the implementation of the government program, plans for development
and proceeding with infrastructure projects, in addition to discussing the topics included on the agenda, and taking the necessary decisions regarding them.

At the beginning of the session, the Prime Minister renewed his congratulations on Eid al-Adha, and the safe return of the pilgrims to the House of God, asking Almighty God to accept from them, and from all Iraqis, good endeavors and deeds.

Al-Sudani stressed the importance of conducting diligent follow-up of every livelihood or service crisis that the citizen is exposed to, stressing that the government program targeted the electricity and energy sector intensively; In order to sustain the provision of this service to the citizen, and indicated that the concerned institutions, along with all state institutions and local governments, are concerned with combining efforts to overcome this crisis.

Al-Sudani directed, according to the statement, to complete the emergency maintenance operations that will provide about 1,440 megawatts of electrical energy pr
oduction and add it to the network. He also directed to cancel all exceptions previously granted to industrial, commercial and official centers, and to include everyone in the hours of preparation during the current three months, indicating that, despite the climate changes that raised temperatures to unprecedented levels coupled with water scarcity, government efforts and plans have not stopped developing the electricity sector, the production and distribution sectors, overcoming obstacles, and working according to a clear vision and plans, noting that the citizen can no longer tolerate justifications in all their forms, and this requires more responsibility and completion of plans to shorten the time required for projects and development operations.

According to the statement, the Council listened to a presentation by the Ministers of Electricity and Oil on the reality of the energy sector, the electrical system and the added loads, and the maintenance and rehabilitation campaigns taking place around the c
lock and providing the requirements for the continued supply of energy to citizens, despite the high demand and high temperatures.

The statement added that the Council of Ministers continued to consider the topics on its agenda.
