The National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji discussed with a delegation from the French Ministry of Justice cooperation in the field of research on the phenomenon of extremism in prisons.

The Chancellery stated in a statement: ‘Today, Al-Araji met with a delegation from the French Ministry of Justice’ and discussed with them issues and files of common interest, especially regarding the establishment of a joint scientific group between the National Security Chencellry and the French Ministry of Justice, to cooperate in the field of research on the phenomenon of extremism in prisons.

The statement explained that the meeting also witnessed discussions in the field of supporting the Iraqi government through cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in the field of developing anti-terrorism legislation and implementing the policy of evaluating and dealing with extremist inmates.

The Chancellery indicated that the visit of the French delegation comes based on the directive of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sud
ani, in order to increase the level of cooperation and exchange of experiences with friendly countries, to improve the reality and performance of the ministries and institutions that deal with the prisoners’ file and combat violent extremism that leads to terrorism.
