National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji called for encouraging countries to return their citizens from Al-Hol camp and dismantle it.

The media office of the National Security Adviser said in a statement that “National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji met in Brussels today, Monday, the head of the Coordination Body for Threat Analysis (OCAM), Kurt Vercauteren.”

He added that “Al-Araji discussed with Vercauteren the work of the Coordination Body for Threat Analysis (OCAM) and mechanisms for joint cooperation with the Iraqi authorities,” noting that “the meeting discussed strategies for combating violent extremism leading to terrorism, the file of the Syrian Al-Hol camp, and the efforts of the Iraqi government to return and rehabilitate families.”

Al-Araji appreciated the “efforts of the Belgian government to take the initiative to return its citizens from Al-Hol camp,” calling for “encouraging the rest of the countries to return their citizens and dismantle the camp, given the real danger it represents to th
e region and the world.”
