Amman: Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abuelsamen, Wednesday inaugurated the activities of the Third Engineering Consultancy Conference, themed :”Making the Future for the Engineering Consultancy Sector”.

The minister said the event, which brought together a “distinguished” group of consulting engineers, is an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the engineering sector and the future prospects for its operations.

The minister called for developing the sector, keeping pace with the global technological developments and introducing new technologies to the engineering sector.

Abuelsamen noted the major transformations that have occurred since the beginning of this century in science and communications have removed barriers and opened borders due to progress in the digital world, which has created many opportunities and highlighted new challenges for the engineering profession and engineers.

Abuelsamen pointed out that the engineer is now required to deal with global hardships and find mul
ti-faceted solutions.

In this regard, he said the engineering community is facing “greater” challenges and is required to develop new skills to adapt to a world of rapid changes and to keep pace with scientific developments.

The minister also stressed the importance of awareness on the latest developments and modern methods and finding solutions to problems related to the engineering sector.
