36 people were treated for possible food poisoning at Abu Ubaida Hospital in the Northern Jordan Valley District on Tuesday before they were discharged.

Irbid Governorate Health Director, Shadi Bani Hani, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the citizens were rushed to the hospital with symptoms of food poisoning, such as high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, after eating hummus and falafel from a restaurant in the Wadi al-Rayyan area.

He added that the treatment protocol for poisoning cases was followed, and the citizens received treatment, underwent the necessary laboratory tests, and left the hospital after they recovered.

Bani Hani noted that the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) was instructed to close the restaurant as a precaution and take samples of foodstuffs.
