SMC: A tunnel, containing ISIS terrorist elements, encircled west of Nineveh

The Security Media Cell announced the encirclement of a tunnel containing ISIS terrorist elements west of Nineveh.

A statement by the cell stated that “a force from the 43rd Brigade in the 20th Division conducted a search operation within the sector of the Western Nineveh Operations Command, and monitored one of the tunnels with a number of ISIS terrorist gang elements inside, as these defeated elements opened fire on the force, which in turn immediately responded to the sources of fire, and the place was encircled by the brigade units and a force from the 44th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces and dealt with these terrorist elements.

12 suspects arrested, drugs, stolen gold jewelry and unlicensed weapons seized in Baghdad

The Federal Police forces arrested 12 suspects and seized a quantity of drugs, stolen gold jewelry and unlicensed weapons in Baghdad.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: “a operation of the security unit of the Fifth Division in the Federal Police, with the support of the intelligence, resulted in the arrest of (12) suspects according to various legal provisions that included (drugs, theft, quarrel, possession of weapons) in the areas of Sabaa Qusoor (Seven Palaces), Tariq neighborhood, Husseiniya Al-Maamel, Sadr City, Al-Muhandisin neighborhood, Al-Islah, Al-Shaab), and seized (a quantity of crystal, a Kalashnikov rifle, ammunition, stolen gold jewelry, and a sum of money), as part of the regional inspection operations carried out by the division’s detachments to search for unlicensed weapons.”

It added: “A large-scale security operation in (Hussainiyat Al-Maamel) area resulted in the seizure of (a Kalashnikov rifle, 3 ammunition magazines, 150 bullets, and other materials), and the accused wer
e referred with the seized items to the competent authorities.”

Interior Ministry: Dismantling 57 international drug trafficking networks in Iraq

The Ministry of Interior announced the dismantling of 57 international drug trafficking networks in Iraq.

The Ministry stated in a statement: “The General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs inflicted heavy losses on international traffickers by implementing preemptive strikes and qualitative operations, after implementing an unprecedented series of successive arrests that succeeded in fully reaching (57) international drug networks, their routes, smuggling methods, and methods of hiding narcotic substances.”

It explained: “The dismantling of the networks was carried out in accordance with judicial decisions issued by the Central Investigation Court in Rusafa, the First Karkh Investigation Court, and the competent investigation courts in the governorates.
