Int’l Cybersecurity Forum ’24 Kicks Off in Riyadh

The fourth Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) 2024 annual meeting began Wednesday in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, under the theme “Advancing Collective Action in Cyberspace “organized by Saudi’s National Cybersecurity Authority.

The two-day event aim to advance knowledge catalyze collective action on critical issues around Cyberspace featuring participants from numerous international officials, including leaders, prime ministers, ministers, decision-makers, and executives from over 120 countries.

In his remarks, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman stated that Saudi Arabia has been working for the benefit of humanity and prosperity around the world, emphasizing the importance of boosting cooperation and strengthening international collaborations, as many initiatives launched to achieve these goals across various sectors. Prince Mohammad bin Salman, also the Prime Minister, noted that cybersecurity is linked to economic growth, societal development, and national stability, underscoring the significance of unifying inter
national efforts to seize opportunities and face challenges in cybersecurity through investments. He said that Saudi Arabia recognized the importance of this sector, having launched two global initiatives in 2020 one aimed at protecting children in cybersecurity and the other empowering women in this sector.

The Crown Prince pointed out the productive outcomes of these initiatives enabling the International Cybersecurity Forum Foundation to implement qualitative programs and projects, publish research and studies, and formulate new frameworks and strategies.

He announced the launch of the Global Summit for Child Protection in Cyberspace, hosted by Saudi Arabia as the first global summit of its kind, aimed at uniting international efforts and enhancing the global response to threats facing children in cyberspace.

The GCF is an independent, non-profit organization that seeks to strengthen global cyber resilience by advancing collaboration, purposeful dialogue, and impactful initiatives, uniting decision make
rs and thought leaders from around the world, GCF aligns with global efforts to build a more secure Cyberspace that enables prosperity for all nations and communities.

This year’s edition will feature panel discussions involving decision-makers, high-ranking officials, and international experts from various government entities, academic institutions, and leading global companies.

Israeli Airstrike in Southern Lebanon Kills Three

Three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house in the village of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon early on Wednesday, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

Israeli artillery has continued its bombardment nonstop since Tuesday night, targeting the villages of Al-Adisa, Kafr Kila, Deir Mimas, Al-Aziya, Tal Al-Nahas, Burj al-Moulouk, and Khiam with hundreds of shells.

Israeli warplanes have launched a series of airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh, while the towns of Mayfadoun and Ansar were hit by two airstrikes, with no reported casualties.

Lebanon is facing extensive Israeli assaults targeting border villages and infrastructure, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of thousands of Lebanese. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of residents in the targeted areas have been forced to flee, as Israel has escalated its aerial and artillery attacks across various Lebanese regions, coinciding with its ongoing genocide against the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.

Kuwait 16th humanitarian plane departs to Sudan

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced its 16th air bridge to Sudan carrying 28 tons of food, relief supplies, and transport vehicles to support displaced individuals in Sudan affected by ongoing conflicts, heavy rains, and floods.

Speaking to KUNA General Director Abdulrahman Al-Oun, affirmed that Kuwaiti aid provided to Sudan are guided by the leaderships of Kuwait. He emphasized that this aid represent Kuwait’s significant humanitarian role, embodied through the KRCS.

Kuwait has provided humanitarian relief, medical aid and transport vehicles, including ambulances to mitigate the impact and risks of the natural disaster caused by floods and the current conditions in Sudan, he added. Al-Oun mentioned that the 28 tons plane consist of four ambulances, food supplies, and blankets, as he expressed his gratitude to the donors from Kuwait. He extended his sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Sudan, the Ministry of Defense, and the Kuwaiti Air Force, commend
ing their pioneering humanitarian role in rescuing and assisting those affected in various countries worldwide.

Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania… An ancient Algerian testament of love

The Algerian national landmark the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, locally known as the Roman Tomb, had been a source of rich historical and archeological value to Algerian history.

The Royal Mausoleum was an ancient Numidian archeological site located on a hilltop on the coast 261 meters above sea level in Sidi Rached, West of the capital Algiers, where it has an advantageous view of the sea, becoming an asset to seafarers and fishermen alike.

The Mausoleum was designed as a circular building with a circumference of 185,5 meters, 60,9 meters in diameter, and 32,4 meters in height, surrounded at the bottom by 60 Ionic columns, and four hidden doors.

The history behind the Mausoleum was originated by the Numidian King Juba II in the first century AD, immortalizing his beloved late wife Cleopatra Selene, an offspring of Queen Cleopatra of Pharaonic Egypt.

The Royal Mausoleum’s construction serves as a resting place for his wife and a testament of King Juba’s affections towards her, gifting her this architec
tural wonder where he would be laid to rest by her side for all eternity.

IOF Heavily Bombs Khan Younis, Murders 40 Palestinians, Injures Dozens

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) heavily bombed the city of Khan Younis today, south of the Gaza Strip, murdering at least 40 Palestinian civilians and injuring dozens of others.

Wafa news agency reported that the IOF carried out a ground incursion and airstrikes on the southeastern areas of Khan Younis, specifically the neighborhoods of Maan, Qizan Al-Najjar and Al-Manara, adding that the medical crews were able to pull out the slaughtered bodies of at least 40 Palestinian martyrs (mostly women and children) from under the rubble, in addition to dozens of other civilians with varying injuries.

Wafa pointed out that many of the wounded civilians remain under the rubble.

The Israeli occupation murdered more than 41,638 Palestinian civilians and injured more than 96,460 others (mostly children and women), since the beginning of its ongoing genocide against the Gaza Strip in October 2023, and thousands of victims remain under the rubble.

KPC: Kuwait oil prices plummet USD 3.42 to USD 70.90 pb

Kuwait crude oil plunged USD 3.42 during Tuesday’s trading to reach USD 70.90 per barrel compared with USD 74.32 pb the day before, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Wednesday.

Benchmark Brent futures rose USD 1.86 to USD 73.56 pb and West Texas Intermediate gained USD 1.66 to USD 69.83 pb.

Oil prices increased by three percent yesterday following rising geopolitical tension in the Middle East amidst fears oil exports might be affects.

Oil markets are under pressure due to projected drop especially by China, where data showed a drop in industrial activities for the five-month running.

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani sent on Wednesday a cable of congratulations to HE Mark Rutte on the occasion of his assumption of the position of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) Secretary-General.

Qatar and Iran call for halting Israeli aggression on Lebanon and Gaza

Doha – Ma’an – The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that “the aggression on Lebanon puts the entire region on the brink of the abyss.”

Al Thani and Bazkishian warned, in a joint press conference in Doha on Wednesday, of the consequences of the Israeli escalation in the region, stressing that they had warned of this since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.

They called on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The Emir of Qatar said, “Mediation is our strategic option, and Qatar will continue its efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip,” calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities, and expressing Qatar’s support for any effort to end the escalation.

Pezeshkian arrived in Doha this afternoon on a two-day visit, his first since assuming office last June.

The Emir of Qatar said that his meeting with the Iranian President comes “within the framework of continuing dialo
gue between the two countries, during which areas of cooperation, especially trade and economic, were discussed.”

Al Thani warned that “the aggression puts the region on the brink of the abyss and the danger of expanding violence in it,” calling on “the international community to compel Israel to stop its brutal aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.”

Regarding Qatar’s mediation in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, he pointed out that his country’s efforts and endeavors to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and release Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners continue despite the “complications” of the continued Israeli aggression.
