Kuwait Amir Representative meets Qatar’s Deputy Amir

The Representative of His Highness the Amir (of the State of Kuwait) Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, met on Wednesday the State of Qatar Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan in the Qatari capital.

The two sides explored the solid fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, means of reinforcing these bonds in diverse domains, and held discussions on various regional and international topics of common interest.

Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya and members of the official Kuwaiti delegation participated in the meeting.

ACD Secretary-General Stresses AI Significance in Promoting Efficiency, Innovation and Sustaining Competitiveness

Doha: HE Secretary-General of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ambassador Nasser Thamer Al Mutairi stressed that artificial intelligence (AI) has become essential for commercial operations worldwide and for enhancing efficiency and innovation, as well as being a key factor in changing industry and sectors in general – large and small – and its integration has become a must for any company that wants to maintain its competitiveness.

In his speech during the inauguration of the 2nd ACD Business Forum, His Excellency added that the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, despite the challenges it posed, accelerated the pace of digital transformation in the world and forced companies to quickly adapt and adopt digital solutions, virtual operations, and automated services. He noted that AI technology played an important role in meeting consumer needs and facing economic challenges until it became the backbone of new business models focusing on quick-decision-based data.

d his commitment to enhancing cooperation among the 35 member states and promoting economic development and technological advancement. He noted that this forum is a valuable platform for exchanging information and investment opportunities, in addition to strengthening cross-border partnerships, especially since Asia includes more than 60 percent of the world’s population, and its position allows it to play a leading role in AI and technological advancement.

HE the ACD Secretary-General pointed out that integrating AI into business requires continuous research so that we can learn from our shared experiences. He voiced his hope that the discussions of the ACD Business Forum will contribute to inspiring new ideas and the growth of Asian societies.

In the speech of Their Excellencies the Ministers of the ACD member states, HE Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba said that AI has witnessed a lot of development and transformation and is no longer just a technological tool, but has become a b
asic driver in shaping and reshaping the global landscape, governance, and human lives, including education, health, and security.

Her Excellency addressed the significance of AI in light of the intense global competition, which has become a major turning point, and has entered all fields such as services and goods, through analyzing customer data and preferences, and has also contributed as an analytical tool that helps businesses access markets and meet customer needs. It has also contributed to developing informed strategies based on improving resources and efficiency in manufacturing processes and opening windows for dealing between companies to maximize benefits and increase business based on real-time information to respond to dynamic markets.

HE Arzu Rana Deuba discussed the challenges and risks facing developing and least developed countries in the use of AI and its impact on business and industry, its impact on employment and jobs, data privacy, ensuring its security and compliance with regulatory
frameworks, in addition to its social and economic impacts, the spread of misleading and malicious information, deepfake, data manipulation, and others.

HE the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal emphasized the importance of the ACD Business Forum to discuss the regulatory frameworks for AI and deal with this extremely important technology to help grow businesses and enhance economic growth. She called for social integration, communication between the peoples of Asia, and strengthening partnerships between Asian nations to harness the capabilities of AI.

Israeli occupation army declares 8 troops killed in S. Lebanon

The Israeli occupation army declared on Wednesday that eight officers and soldiers were killed in battles in southern Lebanon.

The spokesman, as cited by the occupation media, said seven troops were wounded in these clashes in the frontier region, indicating that the operation to evacuate the casualties from the battlefield took a long time due to intensive firing from the Lebanese side.

The occupation army has called on residents of 24 Lebanese villages to evacuate their houses immediately, a day after such a warning was addressed to 28 villages.

Arab League Council at Permanent Delegates-Level Convenes Tomorrow in Emergency Meeting on Lebanon

The Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent delegates will hold an emergency meeting Thursday to discuss Arab action in solidarity with Lebanon and to address the serious repercussions of the Israeli aggression against it, including helping Internally Displaced Persons and refugees, as well as providing aid.

In a statement on Wednesday, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Ambassador Hossam Zaki said that the meeting will be held at the request of Iraq with the support of a number of Arab states.

Turkiye raises security alert levels on ships

Turkish Minister or Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced on Wednesday that security alert was raised to the highest level on ships flying the country’s flag in Lebanon’s ports and off its coasts.

In a statement, the minister said that these measures are due to the recent developments in Lebanon.

Instructions were given to Turkish ships in Lebanon’s ports or off its coast to raise security alert levels to the third level as of September 30, the minister explained.

This level of security alert is the highest in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), he added.

Turkish ships will be on alert against any security threats, and will tighten security measures throughout their docking in Lebanese ports.

These measures also allow the captain’s to deal with threats against the ship, tighten entry and exit into the ship, and restrict loading and unloading, or cancel these operations immediately.

President of Tajikistan Arrives in Doha

Doha: HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Doha on Wednesday to participate in the Third Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit.

His Excellency and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Hamad International Airport by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and HE Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar Nurmurod Mahmadali.

UN High Commissioner urges UNSC to prevent wider war in Mideast

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk urged all states, including members of the Security Council, to act resolutely to prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement released from Geneva, on Wednesday, Turk warned of potential devastating consequences for civilians and appealed to the warring parties to resort to reason and restore peace.

“It is vital that they use their voices and influence to bring the warring parties to the negotiating table to end this,” he said.
