PM directs to follow up on the progress of work in the package of projects announced by the Ministry of Construction under his direction in Diwaniyah


Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed to follow up on the progress of work in the package of projects announced by the Ministry of Construction under his direction in the districts and regions of al-Diwaniyah.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received, today, Saturday, the Governor of Diwaniyah, Abbas Shuail al-Zamili, who briefed him on the situation throughout Diwaniyah, and the file of service projects being implemented in the governorate.”

The statement added, “The Prime Minister followed the progress of work in the package of projects recently announced by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, in the districts and regions of the governorate, and included the sewage and drinking water sectors, roads, bridges, municipalities, and rehabilitation work for dozens of residential neighborhoods.”

Al-Sudani stressed the need for field follow-up of projects by the governor and members of the l
ocal government, identifying problems that obstruct the progress of implementation, and immediately addressing them, with the aim of accelerating their completion and improving the services provided to the people of Diwaniyah, indicating that the government has allocated one trillion dinars from ministries’ projects outside the governorate’s allocations, and prepared plans to revitalize the industrial and agricultural sectors, in accordance with the government program and in a way that contributes to improving the governorate’s situation.

Al-Mandalawi congratulates Iran on the success of the elections and congratulates Pezeshkian on his victory


Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran on the success of the presidential elections, and congratulated the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, on his victory.

In a statement, Al-Mandalawi wished continued progress for the brotherly neighbor Iran, security and stability for the Iranian people, and for Pezeshkian success in his duties.

In a congratulatory telegram, the Prime Minister expressed to the Iranian President his wishes for success in his duties, stressing the depth of relations between the two friendly neighboring countries and the importance of continuing coordination at the highest levels, in all fields, in a way that serves common interests.

Al-Sudani to his Somali counterpart: Iraq is ready to cooperate with brotherly and friendly countries in the fight against terrorism


Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with brotherly and friendly countries in fighting terrorism.

A statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated: ‘Today, Saturday, Al-Sudani received the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, and his accompanying delegation, where an official reception ceremony was held for the guest Prime Minister at the government palace in the capital, Baghdad, during which the national anthems of both countries were played.’

The meeting witnessed a discussion of bilateral relations and a number of files related to economic and security cooperation, as well as a number of issues at the regional and international levels of common interest.

Al-Sudani expressed his welcome to his Somali counterpart, stressing the government’s readiness to cooperate with Somalia in several areas, as Iraq today enjoys the stability achieved after the defeat of terrorism through the efforts of the security forces, as well as the
unity of the Iraqi people of all sects, which was a decisive factor in achieving victory, noting that the armed forces it continues to pursue the remnants of the defeated ISIS terrorist gangs.

The Prime Minister also stated: ‘Iraq today possesses information, experience and know-how in the field of combating terrorism and tracking its groups, and is ready to cooperate with brotherly and friendly countries to help fight it,’ pointing to the great danger posed by terrorism wherever it exists, and that it is in the interest of peoples and countries to cooperate in combating it and not being complacent in the face of the threat and destabilization it poses.

For his part, Barre expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the warm reception, and his country’s desire to benefit from Iraq’s experiences in the field of combating terrorism, as well as in the field of economic cooperation, as Somalia possesses natural resources that have not been exploited.

The meeting touched on the ongoing aggression against Gaza,
and the genocide that the Palestinian people are being subjected to, which requires the international community to deal seriously to stop the brutal aggression, provide relief to our besieged Palestinian people in Gaza, and the necessity of concerted efforts of Arab and Islamic countries to pressure to stop the systematic killing machine of Palestinians.

Al-Sadr announces the expulsion of Abbas Al-Kufi from the Sadrist movement “on corruption charges”


Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, Minister of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced today, Saturday, the expulsion of Abbas al-Kufi from the movement ‘on charges of corruption.’

Al-Sadr’s Minister said in a statement, “We know that the corrupt (Abbas al-Kufi) has been expelled on charges of treason and corruption, and it is strictly forbidden to deal with him in all commercial, financial, or other transactions at all.”

He added, “Despite this, we call on him to repent and isolate himself, and we also call on everyone not to deal with him with violence or anything similar.”

It is noteworthy that Abbas Al-Kufi’s name was linked to the resignation of the Minister of Electricity of the previous government headed by Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Majid Hantoush, when a letter addressed to Al-Sadr was attributed to him in which he spoke about Abbas Al-Kufi’s interference in the ministry’s work, before Hantoush later denied the authenticity of the letter.

The South Korean president pledges to deter North Korea’s threats with force


South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol confirmed that his country will defend liberal democracy by force, by deterring the threats posed by the advanced nuclear and missile program and other provocations of North Korea.

President Yoon, during a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korean Freedom Foundation, criticized North Korea’s recent signing of a mutual defense treaty with Russia and sending balloons filled with garbage across the border.

Yoon said, according to the South Korean Yonhap Agency: ‘Our government will resolutely defend the freedom and prosperity of citizens with force, not just words. We will not retreat a single step from protecting the freedom and lives of our people, and ensuring that no one dares to threaten the country.’

He stressed the importance of adhering to the values of liberal democracy and a free market economy.

An armed attack on the home of a parliament member in Baghdad


Ishraqa Canon Bloc announced today, Saturday, that the house of its MP, Taqi Nasser Al-Waeli, was subjected to an armed attack in Al-Dulai area in Baghdad, indicating that the attack did not result in any human casualties.

The bloc said in a statement, ‘Today, Al-Waeli and his family were subjected to an armed terrorist attack on his home in Al-Dulai area in Baghdad by an outlaw group, and light and medium weapons were used in this attack.’

It added, “This treacherous and cowardly attack did not result in any casualties, despite the damage to buildings and vehicles,” indicating that “while it denounces this crime against the MP, his family, and other citizens, it calls on the government, represented by the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, to take the necessary measures to pursue criminals and bring them to justice for the purpose of holding them accountable in accordance with the law, and not to tolerate these actions for any reason, out of concern for people’s safety and security.

The new British government: Haley for Defence, Lammy for Foreign Affairs, and the first woman to take charge of Finance


The British Prime Minister revealed today, Friday, the features of the new cabinet formation under the leadership of the Labor Party leader, Keir Starmer, who assumed the Prime Ministership to succeed Rishi Sunak.

The Prime Minister’s office stated, according to the British Sky News network, that Angela Rayner was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Housing and Communities, and the Finance portfolio was assigned to Rachel Reeves. She thus becomes the first woman to hold this position in the country’s history.’

While John Healey was appointed Minister of Defence, the Foreign Affairs portfolio was assigned to David Lammy, and the Home Affairs portfolio was assigned to Yvette Cooper.

Starmer continues to meet with the leaders of the Labor Party to choose the rest of the members of the new government after the party succeeded in achieving a landslide victory in the elections that took place yesterday.
