Fourteen Iraqi cities topped the list of the highest temperatures in the world today, Friday, with averages approaching 49 degrees Celsius.

The “Placerville” station in California, USA, published a table of 15 global regions and cities that recorded the highest temperatures in the world during the last 24 hours.

The city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq topped the world with an average of 48.4 degrees, while Karbala came second with a temperature of 48.2, and Hit in the west came third with 48 degrees.

Samawah came fourth with a temperature of 47.9 degrees, then Ramadi fifth with 47.7, and Najaf sixth with 47.6, followed by Al-Nukhayb seventh with 47.5, Hilla eighth with 47.3, then Aziziyah ninth with 47.2, and Baghdad Airport also in tenth place with 47.2 degrees Celsius.

In 11th place came the city of Ain Tamr with 47.1, in 12th place came Al-Hussein neighborhood in Basra with 47 degrees, in 13th place came Al-Diwaniyah also with 47 degrees, then Al-Khalis with 46.8 degrees in 14th place, and finally the
Saudi city of Al-Ula with 46.7 degrees Celsius.
